NE Minnie Saturday Night

Saturday night was busy, all of it fun. We pedaled to One-on-One for Frame X Frame, a photo exhibit featuring local photogs and their candid shots of Mpls bikers in their native element. After that we pedaled to Altered Esthetics to check out Bike Art III. Both were cool.

Nyes Polonaise was our next stop. Enjoyed a Zywiec beer, an excellent brew from Poland. Skol Liquor used to carry it. I had a brief chat with the bar tender. He asked if I spoke any Polish. I said, "Well, not much. I know that dziekuju means Good day". He says "What kind of Pollack are you? dziekuju means thank you." Feeling stupid I say "Not a very good one... time for me to get back to Milwaukee and brush up." The Polka Band started playing. We got to hear Roll out the Barrels and I Don't Want Her You Can Have Her She's too Fat for Me... complete with two verses in rap. Great stuff.

Then... we pedaled down to Richfield to hang out at a bonfire with daughter Jess, son-in-law Ben and their guests. Rolled home at about 12:30 AM. It was a good Saturday night.

Starve the Beast

My High School keeps in touch every now and again. I won't call this esteemed institution of learning out by name, but I will offer a clue by indicating that it is a Catholic high school in Stevens Point, WI. You'll have to figure it out from there if you want to know.

This time the envelope contains 3 yellow pieces of paper, 2 of which are the names of contributors to the annual fund drive. This is a preliminary listing of donors, evidently the precursor to publishing the list to a broader audience. Maybe they'll give the list to the dude or chick that works the pearly gates so they know who gets in and who gets a luxury box (there are categories for different levels of giving). Seems that the organizers want to make sure that the names aren't misspelled or, even worse, a contributor's name isn't omitted altogether.

You won't find my name here, and its not as a result of an error. As part of my recovery I won't give to the institution any more. I don't think that makes me a heretic but, if it does, I don't care.
